Greens Update - November 2023

Hi everyone,

The course is extremely wet at the minute, especially as this is only the second dry 24-hour period we have had in the last 17 days! On a beautiful day like today it would be a shame to close the course, but next week looks grim so make the most of it while you can.

One pleasing thing is that the greens are looking very well for this time of year with a very good coverage on them. Yes, there is some disease scarring occurring at the minute, but that is to be expected with the warm temperatures and heavy morning dews. However, is it being kept to a minimum and any scars are having new seed punched into them, so that they recover as soon as possible.

As soon as it is fit enough to do so, the greens will be deep aerated to relieve some of the autumn stresses, and this will help to remove the moisture from the top of the profile.

The leaves are steadily tumbling down now and the team are doing their best to try and pick up as many as possible. The oaks are hanging on a little longer and we will start round two when they drop.

You will notice we have put a special remembrance flag on the 18th as a mark of respect.
